Cooking Instructions

Samo Khichdi

  1. Rinse 1 cup of Samo Seeds thoroughly under running water.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil and sauté cumin seeds, green chilli, and diced potatoes (optional).
  3. Add the rinsed Samo Seeds and 2 cups of water.
  4. Add rock salt (sendha namak) or regular salt to taste.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for 12–15 minutes until the water is absorbed and the grains are tender.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with yogurt or curry.

Samo Porridge

  1. Rinse the seeds well.
  2. Cook 1 cup of Samo Seeds with 3 cups of milk or water until soft.
  3. Add sugar or jaggery, cardamom, and nuts for a nutritious breakfast or dessert.
