Eastern White Puttu Podi Powder 1kg is a traditional Kerala-style puttu flour specially prepared for making soft, fluffy and delicious white rice puttu at home. Puttu is a popular steamed breakfast from Kerala, traditionally made by layering rice flour with freshly grated coconut and steaming it in a puttu maker.

Eastern White Puttu Podi makes traditional puttu preparation simple and convenient, allowing you to enjoy an authentic South Indian breakfast without the need to prepare and grind rice from scratch.

Cooking Instructions

Ingredients:

  • Eastern White Puttu Podi – as required

  • Water – as required

  • Salt – to taste

  • Freshly grated coconut – as required

Preparation Method:

  1. Place the required amount of Eastern White Puttu Podi in a mixing bowl.

  2. Add salt according to taste.

  3. Sprinkle water little by little over the flour while gently mixing with your fingers.

  4. Continue adding water gradually until the flour becomes moist and crumbly. Do not add too much water—the mixture should not become a dough.

  5. Allow the prepared flour to rest for approximately 5–10 minutes.

  6. Gently mix again and check the consistency. When pressed, the flour should hold together lightly but should crumble easily.

  7. Fill the puttu maker by alternating layers of prepared puttu flour and freshly grated coconut. Start and finish with a layer of coconut if preferred.

  8. Close the puttu maker and steam over boiling water for approximately 5–10 minutes, or until the puttu is thoroughly cooked.

  9. Carefully remove the steamed puttu from the mould and serve hot.
