Eastern Chemba Puttu Podi Powder Red 1kg is a traditional Kerala-style puttu flour made from red rice, specially prepared for making delicious, soft and fluffy Kerala Puttu at home. Puttu is one of Kerala’s most popular traditional breakfast dishes, enjoyed for its distinctive steamed texture and authentic South Indian flavour.

This convenient Chemba Puttu Podi makes it easy to prepare traditional red rice puttu without the need to grind and prepare rice at home. It is ideal for breakfast and can be enjoyed with a variety of sweet or savoury accompaniments.

Ingredients:

  • Eastern Chemba Puttu Podi – as required

  • Water – as required

  • Salt – to taste

  • Grated coconut – as required

Preparation Method:

  1. Take the required quantity of Eastern Chemba Puttu Podi in a large bowl.

  2. Add salt according to taste.

  3. Sprinkle water gradually over the flour while mixing gently with your fingers.

  4. Continue adding small amounts of water until the flour becomes moist and crumbly. Avoid adding too much water—the mixture should not become a smooth dough.

  5. Allow the mixture to rest for approximately 5–10 minutes.

  6. Gently mix the flour again and check the consistency. The flour should hold together lightly when pressed but should easily crumble apart.

  7. Fill the puttu maker in layers, alternating between a layer of prepared puttu flour and a layer of freshly grated coconut.

  8. Close the puttu maker and steam over boiling water for approximately 5–10 minutes, or until the puttu is fully cooked and aromatic.

  9. Carefully remove the puttu from the mould and serve hot.
