Cooking Instructions

Traditional Idli Batter

  1. Wash 1 cup urad dal and soak for 4–6 hours.
  2. Rinse 3 cups Idli Rava and soak separately for 2–3 hours.
  3. Grind the soaked urad dal into a smooth, fluffy batter.
  4. Squeeze excess water from the soaked idli rava and mix it into the urad batter.
  5. Add salt and ferment for 8–12 hours in a warm place.
  6. Pour the batter into greased idli moulds and steam for 10–12 minutes until soft and cooked.
  7. Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
